Mayor Brunst

I have lived in Orem, Utah for over 25 years. I have been married to Tammy for 29 years, and have 4 children: Richard, Rebekah, Christopher, and William.



Education and Early Life

  • I was born in Whittier, California in 1949
  • Moved to Phoenix in 1959
  • Went to school at Maryland Elementary and Washington High School in Phoenix
  •  Graduated in 1967
  • Was appointed a Pageboy in the United States Senate in 1964 by Senator Barry Goldwater
  • Attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Swedish in 1974
  • From 1970 to 1972 I served a mission for the LDS church to Sweden


  • Went to work for a pipe company in Utah 
  • Worked there for 12 years before purchasing the company with a partner
  • I acquired my partner’s interest in the business and owned the company for 31 years before closing it down in 2016
  • Started a plastics recycling company with other partners and sold it to a firm in Florida
  • Started a real estate appraisal company and sold it


  • Served as the President of a national trade organization in 1997 and received their Distinguished Service Award in 2000
  • Elected as Mayor of Orem, Nov. 2013
  • Served as the Chairman of the Utah County Council of Governments
  • Serve on the Board of Advisors of Utah Valley University
  • Serve on the Executive Board of Directors of Envision Utah
  • Serve on the Board of Trustees of the Economic Development Corporation of Utah
  • Serve on the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Committee
  • Serve on the Board of Advisors for Mountainland Association of Governments
  • Serve on the Regional Planning Committee of the Mountainland Association of Governmnents
  • Serve on the Metropolitan Planning Organization Finance Committee
  • Serve on the Miss Orem Scholarship Board of Directors
  • Served as a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America for 3 years and received the Silver Beaver Award for service

Results Matter.

I have fought to put Orem back on a strong foundation and we have been able to do some great things.
